Children of Elderly Parents

The circle  of life often comes fully round as children care for elderly parents. One issue confronting many is managing medication.

As described in
Grandma's story, CompuMed was created as a labor of love. We built what we wanted grandma to have . . .  something that would dispense what she needed, when she needed it and remind her to take AND lock out all the other medication until it was the proper time for it.

Many children of parents needing medication  management are not able to be full time caregivers because of work and other family obligations. In our situation, we were able to check on Grandma in the morning and evening. That wasn't enough as far as her medication  was concerned - until we developed CompuMed.

We've been very encouraged by the response to the voice reminder for individuals with short term memory loss. Many would be confused or frustrated with the standard  CompuMed alarm, but when they heard a son or daughter's voice talking to them, reminding them that it was time to take medication, they were much more likely to take their medication properly.
