CompuMed because it reduces costs associated with medication
non-compliance. These costs included additional professional home care and
visits, early admission to long-term care and increased hospitalizations.
Numerous studies document the high costs of medication non-compliance.
CompuMed is a very inexpensive alternative to the high costs of
non-compliance. The challenge has been that the healthcare "system" is
oriented towards a "curative and institutional" approach rather than
"preventative and home based." However, there is an increasing desire among
payors to keep people well and at home.
There is also talk in Congress about paying for prescription drugs. We
encourage those involved in this dialogue to consider that if they pay for
prescription drugs, they should make sure those drugs are taken properly.
Otherwise, why pay for them?!
